Who are you to judge?
Sermon Series:Sermon on the MountDo not judge. It’s practically a motto for our current culture, and it comes from a statement Jesus made in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. But what did Jesus really mean? When we read the context of Jesus’ teaching, we see that He tells us to do something quite different than what we might expect: He tells us both not to judge others but then also to correct others. Do not condemn, but do correct. What does it take to have the humility to not condemn but the courage to correct? How can we confront the character flaws we find in others? Jesus’ first answer is that we must confront the character flaws we find in ourselves first. Only then will be able to judge fairly how we are to relate to others.
